Drop off and Pick up Policies

Dropping Your Child off - When dropping off your child in the morning, please make sure they are here prior to 9:00 a.m. If you are unable to drop your child off prior to this time you should call or let us know prior to that date. Sign In and Out Sheets- When dropping off or picking up your child, you must sign them in and out of their class. Sign in and out sheets are posted on the bulletin board outside each classroom. If you fail to sign your child in and/or out, Baby, Toddler and Preschool Land cannot be held responsible for them.

If you cannot pick up your child and need to have someone else pick them up, you must provide us with prior written authorization. Also, if we do not know the person who is picking up your child, we will need to have valid photo identification, without it your child willnot be released.

If the other person has not picked up you and your child by 6:00 p.m., you will be responsible for all late fees incurred.

Withdrawal / Dismissal

Withdrawal from our school requires a two-week written notice. If you do not give us a full two-week written notice you will be responsible for tuition for this time period.

Dismissal from our school can be due to several reasons. We will ask you to find alternate child care arrangements if we determine any of the following situations to be true; a continued late payment, incompatibility between parent’s beliefs and school’s beliefs, multiple times of picking your child up late, or other situations which cause tension between school and a family attending Baby, Toddler and Preschool Land.

Parking

For the safety of our children we must ask that you park in designated parking spaces. If there are no spaces available, you may park in front of the school providing that you do not block anyone in, or you do not block the entrances or exits to the school. Please show consideration for other parents who are dropping off or picking up their children. Safety is our primary concern.

Transportation

Baby, Toddler and Preschool Land does not provide transportation to and from your home. In our Vienna location we do provide transportation to Cunningham Park Elementary School. In our Fairfax location we provide transportation to and from Providence Elementary School. There is a small fee for these services. Children must provide a car seat if they are under the age of 8 years old.

Sick Policy

Baby, Toddler and Preschool land does everything it can to cut down on germs. We do ask all parents, children and staff to wash your hands upon entering the school, each day. It is important that children do not come to school sick. The following is a list of our sick policy and we require that it be followed exactly.

If your child has the following things:

1.     A temperature of 100°F or above He/she may not attend school until they have been fever free for 24 hours. This means that if we send your child home with a fever he/she may not return the next day.

2.     Any Communicable Disease. The state communicable disease chart determines returning to school, see appendix.

3.     Diarrhea. This can be caused be many different things. A child who has diarrhea two or more times in one hour will be sent home. Any child sent home for diarrhea must remain at home until they have a normal bowel movement or have a doctor’s note.

4.     Rashes or unexplained ailments: Very often children come to school or develop a rash, skin irritation or unexplained ailments. If your child has a rash, or other unexplained ailment we will ask you to take your child to a doctor as we will need a note from them before your child can return to school. This is to protect everyone, please understand that this is very important.

Baby, Toddler and Preschool Land will make the final decision on whether a sick child will be able to return to school or not. If you have
any questions please ask.

Inclement Weather

The primary concern of Baby, Toddler and Preschool Land is the safety of our children, their families, and our staff. Our inclement weather policy generally is as follows:
·        If the Federal Government is closed, or has liberal leave we will also be closed.
·        If Fairfax County Public Schools are closed, we will open at 9:00 a.m.
·        If Fairfax County Public Schools, or the Federal Government closes early, we will be closing at 2:00 p.m.

These are just general guidelines that Baby, Toddler and Preschool Land will use to determine if it will be necessary to close due to the weather. There could be other cases where the administrator may decide it is in everyone’s best interest to close. A message will be left on the schools answering machine by 6:00 a.m. if we will be closed for the day. If it is necessary to close early, you will be notified by telephone.
**There is no reduction in tuition for holiday or weather related closings.

Emergency Policy

The order of actions taken will be the following:

  1. Parent or guardian will be called.
  2. Child’s physician will be called.
  3. Emergency contact persons listed on the registration form will be called. 4. If none of these efforts are successful:
    • Another physician will be called.
    • An ambulance will be called.
    • The child will be taken to the emergency room of Fairfax Hospital. A staff member will accompany your child.

In the event the emergency is life threatening we will call 911 first, and then take the above-mentioned actions.
